Countdown UFL: Week 3
By Peter "Bash" Smith
Countdown UFL Columnist

Hey Countdown fans
thanks for stopping by once again to another great column. Last week was
fantastic, even thought I finished with a 3 and 3 record. What was fun was
that we had failed trash talks, an overconfident champion GM beaten by last
year’s chumps and a Monday night kicker making 9 points to bring their team
the W.
As for
this week, it’s divisional rival week. The excitement just keeps on coming.
Now a 500 record after two weeks is abominable. I need to sleep, I can’t
take the stress of being wrong. Now, I will just breathe… Relax… and let
the old instincts flow. Here goes.
Dallas
vs. Green Bay
Both teams want the win badly to stay out of the cellar. This game is more
important to the Cowboys than the Packers. The reason why it’s more
important for them is because they are favored to win the Western division and
not Green Bay. Saying all this I’m betting that the Cowboys will win. With
Ladainian Tomlinson and Jason Whitten absent this week, plus Westbrook not at
100%, the Packers are facing an uphill battle. Palmer is focused and is
playing against the team he hates the most. That alone will lead the Cowboys
to victory. Winner:
Dallas
Oakland
vs. Atlanta
Well well, look who’s on top. The Falcon flock is flying with pride and it
is showing. Although, now is not the time for them to relax. The Oakland
Raiders came back last week to beat a very tough Bengal team. This is the week
that the Falcons slow down. They’ve been on a fast pace and will fizzle. We
all know everything has to come to and end. Winner
Oakland
Chicago
vs. New Orleans
This is what I like to see. A battle between two undefeated teams. But to me I
think the Saints will be the team still undefeated. Larry Johnson has the bye
week and Peyton Manning is going up against a tough Jacksonville defense.
Watch Baltimore D and McNabb do their thing and ruin the Bears. Winner:
New Orleans
Cincinnati
vs. Philadelphia
A rivalry for the past few years and it continues today. Both teams are in a
must win for a few reasons. The team that wins will prove to themselves that
they belong with the best. This game will be close since across the board both
teams have players playing against strong defenses. Since this will be a
battle of the defenses, I have to give the edge to Chicago D. Winner:
Cincinnati
Buffalo
vs. Tampa Bay
A rivalry of its own kind, the Bill and Bucs love to play each other. The
problem is that this won’t be much of a game. Plummer is not the Plummer of
last year. Alexander has a sore foot and playing a tough D. Look for Edgerrin
James to breakout this week and because of Alexander’s sore foot Hasselbeck
will have a stellar day. Winner
Buffalo
New
York vs. Tennessee
Can anyone give me a reason to put Tennessee as the winner? If you can, please
e-mail me at pat.bri@primus.ca.
Winner: New York
Well
guys, we will have another great week of football. I apologize for this
article taking a while but it’s done. I’ll see you all next week.
