A Gambler's view to the 2006 draft

I will start off by saying that the UFL has developed to a very high level of Fantasy football knowledge. The 2006 draft in my opinion is the best draft the league has had since its existence (1999). We’ve all made big mistakes in the past drafts, but I am confident this year we all did very good. Now enough bragging, lets get to business…

Round 1
There was much anticipation with Atlanta’s first 3 picks. Most of us knew Bush and Maroney were going to get selected, but the third player to be selected was a mystery. GM Teoli is a well known Jay Cutler fan and Matt Leinart, surrounded by talent could have been an option. In the end Atlanta picked another RB that is projected to have a nice fantasy future.

Round 1 steal: Jay Cutler
Sure pick stud: Laurence Maroney and Reggie Bush
Worst round 1 pick: Nobody. I think all round 1 players are solid selections.

Round 2
Many GM’s didn’t like the fact that Vince Young dropped to GM H.Michaud. Many blamed TEN GM Yanicki for this gaff. The future will tell if TEN made a mistake, but in their defense the franchise already has a young talented QB’s to lead their future.

Round 2 steal: Derek Hagan.
Sure pick stud: Chad Jackson
Worst round 2 pick: Jason Campbell will never be a fantasy QB. He was a game manager at Auburn and he will be the same for WAS in the NFL.

Round 3
Some serious talent was drafted in round 3 and let me tell you the UFL GM’s did their homework. There aren’t many locks to be fantasy starters in the future, but there is some big potential in this round.

Round 3 steal: Maurice Drew should have been picked up in round 2.
Sure pick stud: Neil Rackers
Worst round 3 pick: Tavaris Jackson

Round 4
Much like round 3, I like the potential here. Again I’m impressed with the overall selections made here.

Round 4 steal: Wali Lundi
Sure pick stud: Greg Jennings

Worst round 4 pick: Ciatrick Fason. I guess when you have some many picks you are due for a few mistakes.
